Sample Psalms
You don’t need any samples.
Write your own.

But if it helps, here are a few psalms written in real moments of turning, waiting, and coming back to Jesus.

These aren’t meant to be followed or repeated—
just to show what it can look like to be honest with Him.

Your words don’t need to sound like these.
They don’t need to be structured or complete.
Just come as you are.
Speak what is true.
And stay with Him.

Psalm 1 — Return Me to You
Jesus,
Return me to you.

It is your voice I long to hear.
I need your guidance.
Guide me on the narrow path.

What seems right to me is often not.
I rush. I stumble. I choose poorly.

Return me to you.
Draw my soul into rest.
Shape my heart around your words.

Without your strength, I am weak.
My desires and actions fall short.

Fill me again.
Remind me of your faithfulness.
Hold me close.

I hunger for peace.
Still my thoughts. Calm my spirit.

My peace comes from you alone.

I am not alone.
You are with me.
Return me to you.

Psalm 2 — My Bones Are Tired
Jesus,
My bones are tired.
Refresh me.

There is little life in my spirit.
I feel worn down, almost empty.

You have so much to offer,
yet I do not come.

Do I choose this distance?
Do I stay here instead of turning toward you?

Have mercy on me.
Wake me.
Renew my soul.

Open my eyes again to your goodness.
Soften my heart.
Guide my steps back to you.

Apart from you, I struggle and fade.
But you are near.
So I come—
tired,
but turning toward you.

Psalm 3 — Open My Soul
Jesus,
Open my soul to you.
Expand my heart.
Draw me close.

I am still.
I am waiting.

Reveal your beauty to me.
Let my spirit meet with yours.

Your truth stands forever.
My life is brief.
I turn my attention toward you.

Meet with me now.
Renew me.
Feed my soul.

I long for your presence.
You are what I desire.
Today, and again tomorrow.

Psalm 4 — Alone With You
Jesus,
Alone with You, I am free.

Bringing nothing,
I receive everything.
In the stillness,
something in me comes alive.

But to meet with you
requires letting go.
Leaving behind what competes for my attention—
my pride,
my distractions,
my need to control.

Cleanse my heart.
Quiet my soul.

Break through what keeps me distant.
I come empty-handed.
And in that place—
I meet with you.

Psalm 5 — Feed My Soul
Jesus,
Feed my soul.

Quiet my heart.
Still my mind.
Meet with me now.

I come empty-handed,
turning toward you.

Nothing else satisfies.

So I ask—
be near,
guide me,
show me your way.

Hold me steady today.

Be real to me.
Wake my soul.

I am here.
And I am listening.
